WHEREAS,   Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action, and

WHEREAS,   Habitat for Humanity, through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families, and

WHEREAS,   the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate has built or rehabilitated 7 houses over the past 10 years, and

WHEREAS,   it has been decided by the local affiliate to “blitz build” the next home. A blitz build is an accelerated house build in which a project is begun with just a foundation and by the end of a 10-day build, the house is almost complete, and

WHEREAS,   the local “blitz build” is scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 25^th and end on October 3^rd, and

WHEREAS,   the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate would hope to inspire others to become involved in the “blitz build” project by providing donations of materials, money or labor, and

WHEREAS,   on behalf of the citizens of Nevada we, the Nevada City Council,  recognize the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate for their service and contribution to the community.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Tim Moore, Mayor of the City of Nevada, Missouri do hereby proclaim September 25 through October 3, 2004, as Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build Days and encourage all citizens to become involved with this worthwhile project.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, Tim Moore, Mayor of the City of Nevada, Missouri have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City to be affixed at Nevada, Missouri this 21^st day of September, 2004.
